Mission and Program Description:

The Nurse Assistant Certificate Program prepares students for employment in long-term care facilities, home health agencies, and hospitals where basic bedside nursing care is needed. Classroom instruction includes an introduction to health care, essential OBRA skills required for certification, body structure and function, and the job-seeking process, with an introduction to computer skills, as it relates to the health care industry. Students participate in clinical activities at approved facilities under the supervision of the instructor.

Upon successful completion of this program the student is qualified for universal certification and employment in the areas of long-term care, home health care, and acute care.

Length of Program:

5 Semester Credit Hours

Education Requirements:

A High School Diploma or GED is not required, but is recommended.

The objectives of the Nurse Assistant program are as follows:

  • To provide academic knowledge and practical experiences for quality health care as a member of a health care team.
  • To provide the skills and knowledge necessary to prepare students for employment in long-term facilities, home health agencies, and hospitals where basic bedside nursing care is needed.

COST

An application or re-application fee and a testing fee per component are charged for each Application for Admission submitted.

Tuition is paid by the semester. (SEE - Tuition and Fees) Students are also required to purchase books and supplies separately. Contact your host campus for a complete projected cost of this program.

The college accepts cash, personal and company checks, MasterCard or Visa for all fees. A percentage of tuition and fees are refundable up to the tenth day of instruction. No refund will be made after the tenth day.
