Mission and Program Description:

This program prepares individuals to perform tasks related to the management of health information.  Students are prepared for positions as medical transcribers, medical secretaries, medical file clerks, medical receptionists, or medical office assistants.  Strong emphasis is placed on medical terminology and medical machine transcription.  In addition to these skills, office communications, business computer applications, records management, and office procedures are emphasized.

Length of Program:

35 Semester Credit Hours

Education Requirements:

Ability to Benefit - A High School Diploma or GED is recommended for students seeking National Certification

The objectives of the Medical Office Assistant program are to enable students to:

  • Gain a working use of terminology, skill, and attitude for successful clerical employment in a medical office.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of computer and keyboarding applications
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in medical machine transcriptions.
  • Apply English principles to various communications
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge in office procedures and records management.

COST

An application or re-application fee and a testing fee per component are charged for each Application for Admission submitted.

Tuition is paid by the semester. (SEE - Tuition and Fees) Students are also required to purchase books and supplies separately. Contact your host campus for a complete projected cost of this program.

The college accepts cash, personal and company checks, MasterCard or Visa for all fees. A percentage of tuition and fees are refundable up to the tenth day of instruction. No refund will be made after the tenth day.
