Mission and Program Description:
This program prepares individuals
to provide technical support to professional accountants and
other management personnel. It includes instruction in general
accounting principles and practices, posting transactions to
accounts, record-keeping systems, and accounting software
operation.

Note: Transferable General Education Courses needed to meet the requirements for the AAS are offered through a collaborative agreement with South Louisiana Community College (SLCC).
The objectives of the Accounting Technology program are to:
- Equip students with the following technical knowledge
and skills that enable employment in the field:
- A working knowledge of course terminology.
- Knowledge of the nature and purpose of accounting.
- The accounting cycle for a corporation, service,
retail, and partnership company.
- Accounting for cash, cash items, payroll procedures,
generally accepted accounting principles, inventory,
property plant and equipment, write-offs, notes and
interest, stocks, bonds, investments, intangible assets.
- Preparing, analyzing, and interpreting financial
statements.
- Basic and advanced computer skills spreadsheet,
database, keyboarding, and word processing applications.
- Composition and production of mailable, effective
business documents and other written communications.
- Fundamentals of English and basic business
mathematical functions.
- A working knowledge in office procedures and total
quality management.
- Building self-esteem, professional appearance, and
resume writing
- Provide AAS degree seeking students with appropriate
General Education knowledge and skills in English, Math,
Speech, Psychology, and Physical Science

An application or re-application
fee and a testing fee per component are charged for each
Application for Admission submitted.
Tuition is paid by the semester.

Students are also required to purchase books and supplies
separately. Contact your host campus for a complete projected cost of
this program.
The college accepts cash,
personal and company checks, MasterCard or Visa for all fees. A
percentage of tuition and fees are refundable up to the tenth
day of instruction. No refund will be made after the tenth day.
