Student Help and Orientation

Various technologies and Learning Management Systems (LMS) can be used
to both supplement and deliver distance education and on-campus content. Each
technology or delivery method is custom created and managed to the
specific course needs.
This presentation contains an overview and orientation to using
such technology and how it is supported. Begin your orientation by
selecting the link titled "About Blackboard" to the left. You may
navigate to specific areas of interest. However, it is highly
recommended that you follow the orientation progression to get the
fullest understanding of the entire process of available
technologies.
This support
site will help you
learn to use your Blackboard course sites and answer some of your questions.
Answers to common questions, such as how to access Blackboard and your
courses, can be found by visiting our support pages:
Logging In to
Blackboard and Frequently Asked Questions.
The links on the left provide additional information about using the
Blackboard system. To learn more, select and browse any of the links in the navigation section
on the left side of this page.
Log in to Blackboard using the user name and password assigned by
your Instructor or Bb Administrator. Student user accounts are handled
through your Instructor, not Blackboard. If you have
questions about your account or have forgotten your password and you
know other basic personal information associated with your account,
follow the steps of "Forgot Password" on your login screen. If you do
not remember your personal information, contact your instructor, or
contact a Bb Administrator as listed below. You may also file
a support request using the support form. Getting Started in Distance Education
Enrolling in a Distance Education course
Although the method of delivery may be different, the application process
and entry into a program or course is no different than any other on-campus
course (review admissions information
now). The main differences are that you will be required to have
appropriate technical skills that will ensure your potential for success in
the distance education environment and agree to take an orientation designed
to introduce you to the technologies being used.
Check with your
local campus to learn more about available distance
education opportunities.
A distance education student must:
-
meet the minimum program requirements and prerequisites.
-
submit a student technology skills assessment to
determine your ability to succeed in a technology
environment.
-
complete a distance education and technology orientation
to maximize your success.
-
be approved by the course instructor.
