The Pell Grant is a federal aid program designed to provide financial assistance to those who need to attend post-high school educational institutions. Basic grants may be combined with other forms of financial aid in order to meet the full cost of education. All financial aid you receive will be coordinated so as not to receive an over award. The amount of your basic grant is determined on the basis of your own and/or your parents' family financial resources. Payment of the Pell Grant is based on the student's completion rate and satisfactory progress in the program in which he/she is enrolled. Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance
The mission of the Office of Student Financial Assistance is to manage and administer the federal and state financial aid programs which are assigned to the Louisiana Student Financial Assistance Commission and the Louisiana Tuition Trust Authority.

WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT
One-Stop Job Centers provide access to various employment-related programs and agencies whose services are linked through local/state partnerships. Created under the new Workforce Investment Act (WIA), each One-Stop Job Center has a staffed resource area that provides job seekers with access to information that includes job listings, career assessment, training providers, and demand occupation information both in the local area and other areas in which the applicant may be seeking employment. For persons who cannot find a job with assistance from Job Center staff, eligible applicants may receive assistance accessing skill training for jobs in demand and for which they possess the required prerequisites. TITLE III/DISLOCATED WORKER
To qualify for this program you must have been employed in a full-time position (32+ hours a week or more) for at least six months within the last five years, and currently unemployed. This program is not based on financial need. Funding is for short-term training or short-term retraining. Applicants' qualifications will be verified with the Louisiana Unemployment Office. If eligible, applicants must apply for a Pell Grant. All financial aid will be coordinated with other financial aid received from other agencies. Interested persons may pick up an application at your local Louisiana Technical College Campus.
PROJECT FIND WORK
Project Find Work is a program under the Aid to Families with Dependent Children grant which provides child care, transportation assistance, and various other benefits designed to assist AFDC recipients to gain the work skills necessary to become self-supporting. Any individual who is currently included in the payment on an AFDC case meets eligibility for Project Find Work assistance. Any student who wants information about the program should contact her AFDC case worker.
STUDENT LOANS
Louisiana Technical College, no longer participates in the Guaranteed Student Loan (Stafford Loans) Program. To apply for a deferment on a prior Guaranteed Student Loan (Stafford Loan), obtain a deferment form from your lender and bring it to the Financial Aid Office at the individual campus.
